Welcome to Woolwich Central School

We are a K-8 school temporarily located at 39 Andrews Road in Bath, Maine.  WCS is part of Regional School Unit #1, which serves the towns of Arrowsic, Phippsburg, West Bath, Woolwich and the city of Bath.  Woolwich Central School currently has a new construction project ongoing at it's Home site of 137 Nequasset Road in Woolwich.  The newly constructed school will be open in 2012.  Check out our Webcam or read the Construction News to find out the latest update on the school project.

What's Happening:

John Gable MuralLocal Artist John Gable is painting a beautiful 8' x 24' mural depicting characters from stories written by Maine Authors.  The Mural will hang in the lobby of our new school.  What a fun and educational way for our students to become inspired to read and to create!

Community Survey  2012

RSU 1 is facing another challenging budget situation with decreased revenues and increased costs. It is projected that the district will need to reduce the 2012-2013 budget by approximately $1,000,000. Considering the current budget is approximately $25,000,000, this will represent a significant reduction that will affect programs and services. The RSU 1 Board of Directors has developed abudget survey, similar to last year, and we would ask that you take a few minutes to complete this valuable survey. Your input is valued and the Board of Directors hopes that you will continue to be involved throughout the budget process.

The deadline for completing the survey is Thursday, January 31st.  Please note that this survey will only allow one respondent from an IP address.  If multiple people in a household want to complete the survey but do not have access to additional computers, please visit or call the RSU 1 Central Office where your responses can be recorded manually.  Thank you in advance for completing this survey.

bricksBUY-A-BRICK
Would you like to be a permanent part of our new school?  For $100 you can buy a commemorative, engraved brick to be installed in the spiral walkway located in the garden area of the new school.  The money collected from brick sales will help pay for items such as a sports scoreboard, granite compass in the front entry and other items not funded in the construction contract.  You can order online @ www.bricksrus.com/order/wcs.  You can also download a Brick Form and return it to the school office.

MORSE MENTORS

The MorseMentors, a mentoring group from Morse High School, are available, Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:30pm - 4:30pm, to help elementary and middle school students with homework. Kyle Hietala, a Morse High School sophomore honors student, summer camp counselor, and energetic tutor, is our enthusiastic leader who has brought this new program to fruition. His tutoring will emphasize mastery of material, and its practical applications to the real world, including reading, writing, math, even music writing!  All tutoring takes place in the Children’s Room’s new Home Work section. Mentors will meet the parent before the tutoring begins and apprise the parent with the tutoring progress. For further information and to register your child, please contact Carol in the Children’s Room.
