CELEBRATIONS!

Great things are happening at WCS!

  • The 5th grade had a terrific day exploring the Museum of Science, and watching Volcanoes at the IMAX. After a bit of excitement there, we headed off exploring the city of Boston along part of the Freedom Trail. The classes were able to see everything from where the Boston Tea Party began and the end of the Revolutionary War was celebrated. We were reminded of what a great group of students we have, as well as appreciative of the supportive community that sponsored their read-a-thon to make this trip possible.
  • Our 8th graders returned tired but happy from a wonderful trip to DC! They visited monuments and museums, and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. They visited many museums, including the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum, the Holocaust Museum, and the new National Museum of African American History. Without the support of our amazing Woolwich community, and so many local businesses, this trip of a lifetime would not be possible. The 8th graders thank you!

HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS

Today will be the last day of sending home backpacks. If you have some empty ones at home, please return them with your student so we can wash them and use them again next year. I still have food at school and am happy to share with anyone who needs it. Feel free to come over the summer and pick some up...no questions asked. We will begin the program again in the fall, and at that time plan to work once again with the "gleeners" to have fresh produce in those backpacks as well. It is a joy to work with each of you and remember, the food bank is open year round.

I will ask that all parents who have dropped of any medicine to please come by my office and pick it up. Any meds not picked up by the last day are thrown away. We cannot store them. I will look forward to seeing many of you. Have a wonderful summer. Nurse Sherwood

LIBRARY BOOK RETURNS

Look!! There it is!! That great book you lost and need to return to the library!! All library books were due today Friday, June 7th. Forgot it at home? Return it FIRST THING Monday morning! Do you owe for a misplaced library book? Please be sure to settle up with Ms. Luchies before the end of the year. You can reach her at aluchies@rsu1.org A separate check for library bills will be greatly appreciated! (Check your locker, under the bed, in the car, and in your brother’s room!! I’ll bet you can find that lost book!)

NOTICE FROM WCS KITCHEN

As the school year winds down, we need to make sure our lunch bills are paid. If your child/children have an outstanding balance, a slip will be sent home with them today. Please keep in mind we still have one more week of school. If you think your child will be eating that last week, please make sure they have the money on their accounts or in hand. Any money left in your child's account at the end of the year will be carried over for the start of the school year. It has been a pleasure cooking for all these wonderful children.

Have an excellent summer and I will be looking forward to seeing all the smiling faces in the fall.

Thank you so much, Joanne Wells

LOST AND FOUND

The end of the year is fast approaching! You won't believe how many items of clothing are in the lost and found! Please stop by to see if your child's shoes/sweater/jacket/sweatshirt/lunchbox is here. At the end of the school year, all items will, once again, be donated to charity!
