August 14th,  2020

Greetings Wildcat Families,

I hope you are all doing well and finding ways to enjoy the summer sunshine!

I know you have received a lot of information this week but I have a few items I want to share with you before we head into the weekend.

  1. Welcome Mrs. Dimbleby - Dean of Students

I am very excited to introduce you to our new Dean of Students, Erin Dimbleby.  Mrs. Dimbleby comes to us from Woodside elementary school in Topsham where she has spent the last 4 years working as their lead behavior interventionist.  In addition to this work, she has also been a special education teacher in her career.  Mrs. Dimbleby has eagerly joined our team this summer and has been an integral part of our reopening team.  I know you will all join me in giving her a big Woolwich welcome as she begins to build relationships with our students and families.

2. District Guidelines and FAQ’s

I know that you have an endless list of questions as you begin to think about what school will look like in the fall.  As a district and a school we are working hard to communicate accurate information to you as quickly as possible.  This week our focus has been on the details of the district reopening plan.  Progress we made was shared with you yesterday and can be found on our district website.

3. WCS Reopening Update

You should have received a letter this week indicating which class your child will be in as we begin the new school year.  Our efforts next week will be to finalize which days of the week your child(ren) will be attending school and in what arrival/dismissal group they will be in.  This is a logistical puzzle and will take some time to figure out.  First, we need the results of the “School Plans” survey that closes on Monday.  We then need to coordinate schedules to make sure siblings throughout the district are in the same groupings.  I have received requests and I will do what I can to assist your family.  However,  please know that we are using these procedures to safely reopen school.  My priority will be on keeping the numbers balanced to make sure busses can operate safely and we can maintain social distancing in our school.

4. Complete the Survey

Thank you to everyone who has already completed the district survey, indicating how your child(ren) will be attending school this fall.

If you have not completed the survey yet, please do so by Monday, August 17thSurvey Link

This is critical information that we need to safely plan bus routes, determine which days of the week students attend school and place students in arrival/dismissal groups.  The survey can also be found on our school and district website.

5. Staff Videos

Lastly, I invite you to check out the staff welcome back videos that can be found at this link:

Staff Welcome Back Videos

We are anxious for your return and are posting our videos here as they get completed.

As always thank you for your support and patience as we continue on this adventure.  Remember, we can and we will do this!

Enjoy your weekend,

Mr. Libby and Mrs. Dimbleby
