CELEBRATIONS! Great things are happening at WCS! Students from Mrs. Garland's class and Ms. Gibbs' class participated in the Morse High School Special Olympics Track & Field Meet on Thursday at McMann Field. Students did an amazing job participating in events including races (50 meter, 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter), softball throw, running long jump, standing long jump, and shot put. Awards were given out by members of the Bath Fire Department, Bath Police Department, and Sagadahoc Sheriff Department. Great job, students!

THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
The last day of school for grades K-8 will be Wednesday, 6/16. While there will not be a late start that day, it will be a half-day- the schedule for arrival and dismissal will be as follows:
Group A Early Group – 8:15-11:25
Group B Late Group – 9:00-12:10
HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS
As we enter the home stretch for this school year I’d like to say that it has been a credit to all of you that we were able to make this year such a great success. The students, teachers, parents, and caregivers ALL rose to the occasion. We will hold another clinic to give Covid-19 shots to RSU1 students who are 12 years old and older at Morse High School. The transportation for students will be provided by RSU1. The feedback I received from those who attended the first event was so positive! I heard that it was truly inspiring to see how grown up and independent the students were as they entered the high school and rolled up a sleeve. Students were respectful while they waited and we have not received any record of negative side effects from the first vaccine. If you are on the fence about getting your child vaccinated, read about it from multiple sources, or even call your doctor's office. IT IS NOT TOO LATE to fill out the paperwork for first time folks to get it on June 9th. I will answer any questions and gladly help in any way. Just knowing once they get both shots they do not have to quarantine again, may make a difference in your decision. If you are a homeschooler, or a fully remote student you are eligible as well to get your vaccine at Morse (if you are 12 years old and up). Lastly, I will be returning the medicines that you brought into the school this year. Please call me to make arrangements for pick up. ~ Roberta Sherwood, R.N., BSN, M.Ed
RSU1 MASK UPDATE
RSU1 has updated some of the Covid-19 policies regarding masking and social distancing. These changes are informed by the Maine Department of Education and the Maine CDC and will go into effect on Tuesday, June 1st. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Libby.
● Social distancing is no longer required between adults/adults and between adults/students indoors. However, positive cases will continue to be investigated and close contacts may need to be quarantined.
● Although mask requirements are being lifted in some public spaces, adults and students, vaccinated or not, are still required to wear face-coverings when indoors in all school buildings and on school transportation.
● Face coverings and physical distancing, however, are no longer required for outdoor classes, activities, eating, and recess. Close contact investigations will include student and staff contact tracing during outside time even though masks no longer have to be worn. Should students or staff want to keep masking outdoors, that is their choice and they may feel free to do so.
● Staff and students eating indoors together must still maintain 6 foot distancing.
● No distancing is required for music classes that are outside. Should there be a COVID-19 case, contact tracing will still take place for outdoor classes, so if 6 feet of distance can be maintained outside for music, it is recommended. 6 feet of distance will also still be required for indoor music classes, including singing and instrument playing.
