CELEBRATIONS!

Great things are happening at WCS!

Last night we celebrated the return of a Winter concert to WCS.  It was a true celebration of the commitment and resiliency of our students and Mrs. Joray.  For over a year they have persevered through virtual lessons, cold lessons outside, and limited opportunities to perform as a whole group.  It was a true blessing to see the joy in their eyes as they took the stage for the first time!  A link will be uploaded to our website to view a recording of the concert!

LINES FROM THE LIBRARY

This past week we celebrated Hour of Code in the library. Students in grades 1-6 spent their library visits exploring the world of computer science with various coding activities. These activities required teamwork, communication, creativity, and strategic thinking. On top of that, they were super fun!

UGLY SWEATERS

Please join us in some festive fun and have students don their ugliest ugly sweater on Wednesday 12/22. Teachers, students, and staff will all be looking FANTASTIC as we kick off the winter break!

PRE-K NOTES

We are having lots of fun in Pre-K, reading several different Gingerbread Boy stories and singing the song.  We have been making wreaths, decorating stockings, and candy canes!! We are also having fun with Ms. McCauley in our outdoor classroom, learning about animal tracks and winter homes.  Pre-K is great fun!!

BASKETBALL SEASON IS UNDERWAY!

It is with great enthusiasm that I am pleased to report that our basketball seasons are underway!  Both our boys and girls teams played their first two games this past week.  They played hard and represented Woolwich very well.  As you can imagine by now, we do have new safety protocols that we need to follow this season to keep our community safe.

  • A League decision was made not to allow fans at away games.

  • At home games here at WCS, we are limiting our fans to four people per player.  Only fans associated with our middle school players are allowed to attend at this time.  Stay tuned as this could change as the season progresses.

  • Fans in attendance are required to wear masks at all times when in the building.

  • We are making every effort we can to provide a link to livestream coverage of each game.  Please be patient, this part is a work in progress.

I know you will join us in following these guidelines so that our students continue to have the opportunity to play a sport they love!

PTA TREE LIGHTING

The WCS PTA is hosting a Winter Tree Lighting event on 12/21. There will be hot chocolate, music, and an opportunity for photos as we gather together to kick off the winter season outside! Please CLICK HERE for more information.

   HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS

This week it seems that a stomach bug has been circulating in the community. Please remember that cloth masks are designed to be worn once and then washed before wearing again.  Remember these masks are worn all day at school. They get moist and can harbor bacteria, so washing them daily is important.  Make sure your student has at least one extra in their backpack in case a change out is needed.

I have had many folks inquire about getting Covid shots for their child.  I know they can be scheduled at WalGreens, CVS, and WalMart. Mid Coast Hospital may offer shots but as of now, that has not been determined. Remember: if you get a shot for your student, please send me a copy or photo of the card upon completion. I will record it in their file.  Please continue to do the symptoms checker each day and do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well.
